Dear Huaxia Parents:

I am excited to announce that there will be a FREE trial Yoga Class for Huaxia Parents this coming Saturday 1/31 from 10:15am - 11:30am in the Main Office.  If there is enough interest, we hope to start the yoga class for parents this spring semester.  Our original plan was to start the yoga class next school year, but parents got super excited and want to get this class started sooner, so let's give it a try!

As parents, we spend much of our time and energy on developing our children, it is time to pause and take good care of our own health through the practice of yoga.  Here are few well documented benefits of practicing yoga:
  • Increased flexibility.
  • Increased muscle strength and tone.
  • Improved respiration, energy and vitality.
  • The maintenance of a balanced metabolism.
  • Weight reduction.
  • Cardio and circulatory health.
  • Improved athletic performance.
  • Protection from injury.
Come to try out Lily's yoga class this coming Saturday 1/31 at 10:15am in the Main Office.
Do wear comfortable clothing, bring water and a yoga mat to class.
Lily will bring a few extra mats, but do bring your own if you have one.

A little bit about our yoga instructor: LILY CHAN

Lily began her yoga training in 2003.  Over the past decade, Lily has maintained regular practice at various studios throughout New York City.
In her pursuit to gain greater knowledge of how yoga works and a deeper understanding of the 'mind-body connection', Lily participated in many yoga workshops and conferences, specializing in topics such as body alignment, physics/dynamics, energy, balance, working with pains/injuries, and meditation.  She has also explored advanced methods- Forrest Yoga, Baptist Power Yoga and Aerial Yoga.

For the purposes of our class, Lily's plan is to practice Hatha Yoga, a broad practice of asana (meditative postures), pranayama (breathing) and movement sequences, to develop strength, flexibility, mental clarity and focus, restorative and relaxation techniques.  And of course, we are all seeking a mind-body-spirit unity and overall wellness!
